A kris is offered for sale during an antique auction in Amsterdam. Ben van Rooyen (Willem Nijholt), one of the staff members of the Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, is very interested in this kris, because he suspects that it is a real Matamaram Kris, a 'holy' kris. He buys the kris. Santos, an antique dealer, also appears to be very interested in the kris and tries to buy it from Ben. Ben does not accept this proposal. When the next day Ben's house is trashed during his absence, which is discovered by his younger brother Mark (Erik van 't Wout), suspicion falls strongly on Santos. Ben has the Kris examined by Professor Smit (Ben Aerden) and he confirms that this is a real Matamaram Kris, who is of great value to the family to which he belongs.
