1914. A young scientist - Ivan Akimov, nephew of Professor Likhachev - escapes from Narym exile. The interests of the case require him to immediately travel to Stockholm in order to preserve for the future of Russia Likhachev’s unique works on the use of the riches of the Siberian region. With the help of one of the members of the underground organization, a Bolshevik, paramedic Gorbyakov, he manages to escape persecution and take refuge in the taiga. A young revolutionary Katya Ksenofontova leaves Petrograd for Tomsk with a foreign passport and money for Akimov. Ivan's friends help him meet Katya and get to Stockholm. However, he no longer finds Likhachev in Stockholm. Ivan sorts out the professor’s archive, preserving his discoveries and scientific predictions for his homeland.
