Overview
The two-part television production based on Jaroslav Vrchlický's three plays returns to the beginning of our history, to the period of building the Czech state of Přemyslovsk. It does not want to be just a historical chronicle, but a story about people who in their time took responsibility for society and fulfilled it with all consistency and at any cost. Its first part covers the period from the death of Prince Vratislav (921), when his wife Drahomíra ruled, to the assassination of Wenceslaus (935). As the surviving legends indicate, the first period of Wenceslas' reign was filled with struggle and internal conflicts. The production from 1982 was filmed in a stellar cast with J. Hlaváčová, D. Medřická, V. Voska, P. Svojtka, J. Štěpnička and others.
