
At the height of the refugee crisis in Bulgaria, a competent DANS employee and an ambitious local investigator are investigating the murder of a retired police officer in the border town of Smolyan. The clues are gradually turning them into a terrible secret about a crime that will overturn their investigation and personal fate.

The DANS employee, Miya Yazova, who is investigating a Turkish refugee camp crisis in Bulgaria finds the suspicious person who leads her to something even bigger, which she goes into investigating as well. Things get deeper as she finds out the one holding the refugee channel, has died the night before.

Miya questions a refugee, who confirms that Karakehayov helped him cross the border. The prosecutor interrupts the interrogation, though he is keen to pin the murder on the refugee. Miya finds evidence that the suspect gave a false name.

A second dead body in discovered at the base of a cliff. Miya is taken off the case and sent home. The police team find evidence that one of their own is involved.

Filip finds a way to get Miya back on the case. A mother reports her son missing, last seen in the locale of the murders.

Miya and Asen find another severed body in the forest before visiting the troubled beekeeper who may be destroying evidence.

On the latest victim, the morgue reveals that the tongue was cut off after death. Dental records identify the victim and the police team go to his village, where Miya makes an unsettling discovery.

Miya works alone to clear the current suspect. A mysterious package is delivered to the investigators.

At the bar Krasi and Popeto sit and talk something major about Krasi's private life - how he thinks his wife is cheating on him. Popeto offers his unconditional support for his best friend. Moments later, as Krasi is going back to work with his car, he spots something - his wife really was cheating on him after all.

One man gets into the police building, saying he is the killer. Miya knows something about that man that no one else knows, but the male makes a move - aiming a gun at the head of Filip's father. Miya gets reminded of how her husband died the same way years ago and she falls into a panic attack, while everyone else is trying to distract the "killer".

Filip questions his father about his relationship to Deniz. Miya makes a discovery in the cave called The Devil's Throat.

Miya administers a lie detector test to Dimitar Chanov, focusing on his knowledge of the murder victims.

Miya and Filip discover the truth. But it's what they never thought of. With a knife in hands, the killer makes another move. But it's on someone who no one ever expected, and it will shatter their hearts.
