In the small northern German town of Aschberg, everyone knows everyone. The long-time police chief Gerhard Mühlfellner and his new colleague, the newly qualified police officer Anna Wippermann, investigate murders that occur. Zehnder, a former police officer and now working as a private detective, comes across as a bit of a fool. He investigates using not always entirely legal means and uses his razor-sharp mind to expose and drain a swamp of corrupt bureaucracy and neighborhood viciousness in Aschberg.
