
Played with aplomb by Patricia Routledge, Hyacinth is a character with few, if any, saving graces. Her pompous, self-serving attitude makes life miserable for all around her.

Hyacinth's father has an accident on his bicycle while chasing the milkwoman which upsets Hyacinth.

When Hyacinth invites the new Vicar to tea, she organizes the event down to the last sugar cube, However, Daisy, Onslow and Rose seem bent on interfering with her special welcome event. Richard has problems trying to get his yard work done.

Hyacinth anticipates soaking up a little culture at her favorite stately home.

Hyacinth is at her wits end with the charity shop, Roses love life and Daddy's problems.

Hyacinth's social standing is jeopardized at a church function when Daisy tries to make Onslow jealous.

Daisy and Onslow's grand daughter is supposed to be christened, they are late and Richard and Hyacinth go to pick them up.

Hyacinth sees a strange man coming out of Elizabeth's house wearing nothing but a towel to get the morning milk and she goes nuts until she finds out the truth then does a 180.

Hyacinth is thrilled when wealthy Mrs. Fortescue asks her for a ride into town, until, that is, they have a run in with Onslow, Daisy and Rose.


Hyacinth and Richard spend the weekend at a gold resort where Hyacinth thinks she can increase her social standing by being involved with the Major and his wife. Things take a turn for the worse however.

Hyacinth is invited to Onslow's birthday party so she plans a pre-party cocktail. She also gets excited when she hears about Rose's new boyfriend who is supposed to pick her and Richard up in a limousine to take them to the party and starts telling everyone that Rose is dating a millionaire.

Daddy disappears from Onslow and Daisy's again and runs amok in a toy store. He is then held hostage by the owners until Hyacinth comes in to pay for the damages.

Hyacinth is anxiously awaiting the delivery of her new three piece suite, a exact replica of Sandrigham House's. She does her best to make sure her neighbors will see the delivery. She makes plans to give her old suite to Daisy and Onslow, however her best laid plans go awry.

Hyacinth plans a picnic for her father but things go horribly awry when Daddy takes off.
Some people look forward to retiring early, however for Richard, early retirement may be a nightmare. 24 hours a day at home with Hyacinth could be enough to drive the strongest man out of his mind.

Hyacinth starts making plans for Richard's retirement, one of them involving searching the countryside for iron age remains; meanwhile Rose goes off the deep end and interrupts Hyacinths plans for Richard.

Richard and Hyacinth go to stay for a few days at a country cottage. Things take a interesting turn when Richard has to chase down a dog and Hyacinth worries about impressing the local aristocracy.

Hyacinth and Richard visit a local travel agent so she can one-up Delia Wheelright.Onslow tries to figure out how to save Richard from Hyacinth during his early retirement.

Deciding that he needs a new hobby to occupy his time during retirement, Hyacinth pushes the video camera onto him that was given by his employer as a retirement gift and forces him to go out and use it resulting in a fiasco of epic proportions when she starts telling people that he is a film producer.

Hyacinth decides that she must become a art expert in order to become more of a part of the "In" high society crowd after she and Richard are invited to a art exhibition. Meanwhile, Daddy goes off on a adventure of his own.

Hyacinth and Richard learn they don't know much about sailing when Hyacinth makes plans to spend the weekend aboard a ship.

Richard is unhappy with Hyacinths plan for him to get a executive position with a local company. Hyacinth gets Onslow involved and asks him to come to a local golf course and pretend to be a thug.

Hyacinth decides that they need a Cottage in the country to spend part of their time at.

Hyacinth decides to have a Indoor Outdoor party featuring a tv personality and goes to the local nursery/garden shop and fills up her living room with plants much to Richards distress.

Hyacinth bulls her way into picking up the Commodore at the train station who is to be the special guest for the Ladies Luncheon club. The usual misadventure's soon occur.
Hyacinth's Daddy gets picked up by the police so she sends Richard to get him while she goes to look at another weekend home in the country with Elisabeth.

Hyacinth and Richard spend their first night at their new country retreat that Hyacinth picked out, then Hyacinth invites everyone there for a get together to show off her new acquisition.

Hyacinth tells the Vicar that Richard knows how to work on electrical systems much to Richards distress. Richard keeps telling her he does not know anything but Hyacinth volunteers him to fix the church's electrics anyway.
