"Heroes Without Tears" is a drama TV series directed by Zhang Duofu and starring Xiu Qing, Li Yanqiu and Zhao Hong. The show first aired in 1995. The film is adapted from the Qijianqiao Murder Case, one of the ten most mysterious cases in the Qing Dynasty. It tells the story of the famous doctor Ju Hai and his son in Qijianqiao Town who were murdered at home in the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. The government determined that it was an adulterous murder case. The murderer was Ju Hai’s wife Xiang Shuying. Ju Hai’s daughter Ju Hua firmly believed that her mother was not the murderer and she desperately cried out for injustice, but Xiang Shuying was still taken to the provincial capital to prepare for execution at an early date.
