Overview
"Fire King" is based on the "May Day" counter-mopping up in 1941 in the Jizhong Plain during the Anti-Japanese War. At that time, the Anti-Japanese War had entered a stage of strategic stalemate. In the first two years of the Anti-Japanese War, the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army, under the leadership of He Long and Guan Xiangying, opened up a revolutionary base area behind enemy lines in central Hebei and achieved great results. However, under the siege of the Japanese invaders, strategic adjustments had to be made. That is, He Longguan accordingly led the main force of the 120th Division into the Taihang Mountains and joined the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Base Area founded by Nie Rongzhen. Only the former Northeastern Army general Lu Zhengcao was left to persist in the guerrilla struggle behind enemy lines in central Hebei.
