After the series Welcome to the 70s and 80s, NTR now presents Welcome to Amsterdam. This new historical comedy by Niek Barendsen celebrates the birthday of our capital. We go through 750 years in a nutshell: from the first settlement on the IJ to the rolling suitcases of today; from eel riots to squatter riots of 80 and from the laying of the first dam to the construction of the canal belt to Artis and the Vondelpark. We see a large number of famous Amsterdammers from then and now, such as Rembrandt van Rijn, the gentlemen of the Night Watch, Spinoza, Sarphati, Tuschinski, Bet van Beeren, Aletta Jacobs, Louis Davids, André Hazes, Heintje Davids and Johan Cruijff.
