Overview
After reunification, Jessica from the GDR quickly adapts to living conditions in the West as a radio presenter. However, her brother, the unemployed Ralph, becomes entangled in a network of right-wing organizations, ideologies and crimes. In the fall of 1992, the citizens of Bliesburg, a town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, blocked a bus carrying asylum seekers from entering their town. Ralph can be found among the demonstrators. When the citizens realize that they cannot maintain the blockade and leave, the local youths attack the vehicle, beat up the asylum seekers and set the bus on fire. Ralph and his friend, the skin Gerd, are also there. "The Bomb is Ticking" takes place against the backdrop of neo-Nazism, which reached its first climax shortly after reunification with beating skinheads, assassination attempts on foreigners and electoral successes of right-wing parties.
