Overview
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Ma Liangcheng, who was studying in Europe, returned to China to join the war and serve his motherland. Because he had won the title of special marksman at the French Military Academy, he became a shooting instructor at the traffic school run by the national army in the rear area of the Kuomintang-controlled area. However, he was suspected of being excluded because of his upright personality and could not tolerate corruption in the Kuomintang-controlled area. Director of Military Justice Rong Xiaoyao suspected that Ma Liangcheng was a Communist. When Ma Liangcheng was training students, he kept asking to go to the front line, and was finally approved. He went to Shanghai, Yunnan, and Nanjing to perform tasks. Rong Xiaoyao tried his best to prove that Ma Liangcheng was a Communist. During the fierce exchange of fire with the Japanese army on the Yunnan border, Rong Xiaoyao finally relieved his suspicion of Ma Liangcheng, and the two escaped death. However, Ma Liangcheng got into trouble due to his merits and was put under house arrest and isolated for review. School doctor Liu Yingchun is a progressive young man and Ma Liangcheng's confidant. Under her influence, Ma Liangcheng resolutely defected to the anti-Japanese base area of the New Fourth Army in northern Jiangsu, joined the land reform team, raised political awareness, relied on the organization to dig out long-term Japanese spies, seized radio stations, avoided heavy losses in the base area, and cleverly arranged pocket formations to annihilate the Japanese cavalry brigade that carefully disguised a long-distance surprise attack.
