Ten-year-old Erik would rather fantasize about his secret love Rosalie than prepare a speech for school. Erik's grandfather is happy to help him and suggests insects as the subject. Erik finds this boring and while he is reading, he dreams away. Then he suddenly gets the chance to take a look at the insect world for himself, where he meets the strangest animals and experiences exciting adventures. He learns a lot about the insects, but even more about his own life.
