Overview
The story takes place in the late 1970s. Hongxing Machinery Factory is a state-owned enterprise. Jin Yong (played by Jiang Wu) is recognized as a technical master and production expert. He works in the workshop with his friend Du Zhiming (played by Wang Zhifei), his apprentice Lin Yue (played by Zhao Qian), tool keeper Feng Xinliu (played by Liang Xin) and workshop attendant Kong Lingqin (played by Wang Lan). Jin Yong has a deep crush on Lin Yue, but Lin Yue falls in love with Du Zhiming. Due to the close relationship between Zhiming and Jin Yong, Lin Yue silently hid her feelings. Feng Xinliu also loved Du Zhiming, but they broke up due to academic differences and external interference. A few years later, Zhiming was admitted to college, and Lin Yue always cared for him and his mother. After Zhiming graduated from university, he formed a happy family with Lin Yue, and Feng Xinliu also reconsidered being with Zhang Mingchao. However, Jin Yong has been unable to forget Lin Yue, which has interfered with their family life.
