Overview
The Shogunate is shaken by the appearance of Bennosuke (Mitsuhiro Hakuryu), a boy who claims to be the legitimate son of the third shogun, Iemitsu. Behind this boy's back, Yui Masayuki's (Nakao Akira) faction is pulling the strings. Eventually, Bennosuke comes face to face with Iemitsu, but Iemitsu has a legitimate child, Takechiyo. Yagyu (Tetsuro Tanba), fearing that a feud will break out over his successor, makes an attempt on Bennosuke's life. When Choshichiro found out about this, he could not leave the boy alone as he was caught up in a power struggle. Choshichiro's father, Suruga Dainagon Tadanaga, was forced to commit suicide when the second shogun, Hidetada, doted on his second son, Tadanaga, more than his eldest son, Iemitsu. Remembering his father's death, Bennosuke stands up to save young Bennosuke.
