This drama uses the "Demon Book Case", "Curse Case", "Strike Case", "Red Pill Case", "Gong Move Case" and other major mystery cases in the late Ming Dynasty as clues, and takes the establishment of the crown prince and the succession of imperial power as the key points. It tells the story of Wanli and the Ming Dynasty. The power struggle around the court in the twenty years between Taichang and Tianqi shows the intertwined party struggles and complex emotions between monarchs and ministers, fathers and sons, husbands and wives, and colleagues in the face of power, and depicts the perilous situation of the Ming Dynasty.
