Overview
The action of the series takes place in the years 1900-1945. It is a story about the Prussian von Krauss family and the Kashubians' fight for autonomy, personified by Bazyli Miotke. The figure of the man was inspired by the figure of the "Kashubian king", i.e. Antoni Abraham. There is also a love story written over many years between the titular butler, Mateusz, the illegitimate son of the count and the Prussian heiress Marita.
