Overview
A fire breaks out in Kanda in Edo, and Minamimachi Magistrate Ooka Echizen no Kami Tadasuke (Tsuyoshi Kato), who rushes to the scene, takes command. Then, Edo Castle is also on fire, and Tadao rushes there. The next day, Tadasuke is called by Shogun Yoshimune (Takashi Yamaguchi) and proposes to the shogunate's senior retainers, including the lord of Tsuchiyayama Castle (Kotaro Satomi), that 30,000 ryo had been stolen from the castle's gokin store. Magobei Sahashi (Asao Sano), Daisuke Misaki (Sanshiro Yori), Kentaro Katase (Keisuke Sano), and Tatsuzo (Gentaro Takahashi), a gangster under Tadasuke, are involved in the incident. He sets out to solve the case, but it soon becomes clear that the former shogun Ietsugu's biological mother Gekkoin (Eiko Ito) and the Owari clan are behind the incident, aiming to overthrow Yoshimune...
