Overview
In 1950 in Itabuna, in the interior of Bahia, Natário is a former jagunço who prospered planting cocoa and decided to found the city of Tocaia Grande, angering colonels Boaventura and Elias, enemies who unite to destroy the new powerful who is robbing them of their workers. The widower Natário is enchanted by Júlia, a former prostitute who is looking for her four children, abandoned by her in the poverty of her youth. The four children: Bernarda, Sacramento, Aurélio and Ressurreição were distributed by Father Mariano to families in the city.
