Under the cover of Gao's rich and scholarly family, Ke'an and Keding stole and sold property and played with girls. These guardians of the old system were serious on the surface but dirty behind the scenes. Represented by Mrs. Gao and Keming, they tried their best to uphold ethics and family precepts and suppressed all new things, even at the expense of young people. Mei died of depression, Ruiyu had a tragic fate, and Mingfeng committed suicide by throwing herself into the lake. Jue Hui, a rebellious representative who was impacted by the new trend of thought, firmly opposed Jue Xin's "non-resistance", launched a fight against the corrupt and declining "home", and left home without any scruples to run towards a new life.
