Overview
The Angel of Death sends an emissary, Alexandre, to Earth to look for the young, beautiful and sweet Carolina. However, he falls in love with the girl and tries to take his evil sister, Ruth, in her place. Death does not accept the exchange, but agrees to give the girl one more opportunity: she can only commit two sins; he will die when he commits the third. Meanwhile, the willful and selfish Ruth mistreats her brother, the deaf-mute Tomás, to whom she attributes the cause of all her problems. Tomás is Carolina's protégé and suffers at the hands of Ruth, jealous of the attention everyone gives him.
