"Temporary Family" is a sitcom in mainland China directed and written by Liang Zuo, starring Liang Tian, Cai Ming, Shen Yuqian, Wang Kuirong, Fang Zichun, etc. It was produced by Beijing Paige International Film and Television Production Center, with a total of 40 episodes (originally planned 120 episodes). The entire drama was filmed in Beijing in 1996. The play is set in a modern apartment building in old Beijing. It tells the story of antique dealer Dong Shoukang who is forced to take in three tenants: radio host Zhou Xinxin, lovelorn businessman Liu Gongda, and unemployed beautician Liu Hong. Their differences in personality lead to friction in their lives, but they gradually form a special family bond in the process of living together. In the play, the theme of neighborly help between distant relatives is worse than that of close neighbors, echoing the emotional expression of the ending song, "As long as you can show your true love, your heart will never be exchanged for gold."
