"Once Upon a Time on the Yangtze River" tells the story of the early Republic of China, when the national capitalist industry was initially developing. Xiang Yinweng, who was originally from a family of officials, helped his eldest son Xiang Buzheng start the Xiang family fleet from scratch and succeeded in one fell swoop. Later, three generations of the Xiang family remained defeated despite several natural and man-made disasters, and used wisdom and justice to tenaciously protect the Xiang Yangtze River shipping company.
