Overview
The series is based on the events of the eighteenth century, little-known details from the history of diplomacy during that war, which later became known as the Seven Years' War; about the glory and exploits of the Russian troops who reached Berlin in battle. But the center of events is not so much combat episodes, but the “behind the scenes” of the so-called “secret diplomacy”, a special phenomenon of international relations of the mid-century, where espionage and court intrigue, where love relationships are closely intertwined with bribery and betrayal. One of the main characters in the story, the Chevalier de Eon, is a diplomat and spy for Versailles at the Russian court. A duelist, a Republican, “who lived for 48 years as a man, and for 34 years was considered a woman both in uniform and in lace, managed to glorify himself, equally valiantly wielding a pen and a sword.”
