"Chongqing Spy", adapted from real historical events, tells the story of how during the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang government invited the American code-breaking expert Yardley to join its camp and established a "black room" code-breaking base in order to decipher the Japanese code. In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out, Nanjing was lost, and the Kuomintang government moved to its accompanying capital, Chongqing. However, the Japanese Air Force repeatedly bombed Chongqing, causing numerous casualties to Chinese soldiers and civilians. The Chongqing government decided to establish China's cryptographic intelligence agency. Agent Qin Ao is sent to Wuhan to snatch the American expert Yardley, known as the "Father of Cryptozoology". In Wuhan, Qin Ao finally met his two-year-lost fiancée Hu Yuwen, who had become the wife of Lu Ya, an underground member of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan. The appearance of Qin Ao broke her peaceful life in the past two years. Yeardley refused to go to Chongqing to serve. The Japanese army in Wuhan also continued to send people to assassinate Yardley. At this time, underground party member Lu Ya received a task from his superiors, asking him to assist Qin Ao from Chongqing and send Yardley to Chongqing. In the process of carrying out the mission, Lu Ya discovered that his wife Yu Wen turned out to be a Kuomintang agent. But Lu Ya still insisted on taking the overall situation into consideration, rescued Qin Ao and Yu Wen from danger, and took Yardley to the Chongqing Black Room. This technical organization was established in the context of the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Lu Ya, Qin Ao, Yu Wen, Yardley and others all joined the black room. Everyone in the black room united as one and made many achievements in deciphering Japanese military intelligence. But the peaceful days are always very short-lived. One day, the highest level triple-A code book used by the black room to hold a military meeting was stolen by Yardley. Under the arrangement of Tang Daming, the boss of the black room, Lu Ya was ordered to lead people to hunt down the "traitor" Yardley. But in fact, this was a "fishing operation" carried out by Tang Daming in order to find out the "one-armed thief" who had been hiding in the black room for a long time. Lu Ya's colleagues Li Kejiang and others were killed by the Japanese, and Lu Ya escaped alone. Since only Lu Ya survived, he was identified as the traitor "one-armed thief" by the dark room. Lu Ya could not prove his innocence and had to flee alone. Qin Ao was ordered to pursue Lu Ya closely. Lu Ya was in danger, and Yu Wen suddenly appeared and threatened Qin Ao's life to help Lu Ya escape. Qin Ao hated Lu Ya even more and vowed to catch Lu Ya with his own hands. Lu Ya and Yu Wen went through hardships together, and the two reconciled. Lu Ya and Yu Wen teamed up to find the Japanese agent "Fourth Sister" who maintained a single line of contact with the "One-Armed Bandit". In the process of searching for clues, Lu Ya accidentally discovered that Tang Daming was very close to the fourth sister. At this time, the triple-A code book secretly stored in the black room was lost again, and the black room fell into chaos. Qin Ao also found that Tang Daming's behavior was quite suspicious. So Qin Ao took the initiative to show his goodwill to Lu Ya. The two exchanged news and found that the doubts pointed to Tang Daming. Just when the two were about to join forces to take advantage of Tang Daming, Tang Daming was suddenly assassinated. At the same moment, Lu Ya snatched back the real codebook from the Japanese.
