Overview
In 1866 Fyodor Dostoevsky published his masterpiece, "Crime and Punishment", one of the most important novels in the history of Russian literature. The story of the student Raskolnikov - who, obsessed by the idea of being above good and evil, goes so far as to kill an old usurer - had already been adapted for Rai by Anton Giulio Majano in 1963. Twenty years later, in 1983, the theater director Mario Missiroli (1934-2014), proposed this second television adaptation in five episodes on Rai 2, made entirely in the studio «in order to be able to analyze in depth the torn souls of the protagonists and to create a climate between reality and nightmare".
