"Dream of Glory 1942" is a war comedy adapted from Xie Yifeng's novel "Flying Qi and Blood" published by the People's Liberation Army Literature and Art Publishing House and known as the "Civilian Bright Sword". Before the outbreak of the Pacific War, Japan's military power stepped up its raids and counterattacks on the Chinese battlefield. When the democratic government of our anti-Japanese base area implemented a strategic transfer, the advance team of the Japanese raids had already approached the Gushan Prison, which was being transferred. The purpose was to rescue the Japanese spy Sakai, a "China hand" hidden among the prisoners, and obtain the secret grain map to support the big raids. At the last moment of transfer, the prisoners with their own agendas were trying to escape. Liang Mangui, a "liar" who was sentenced to three months of labor education for stealing grain from a landlord, wanted to go back to the village to see if his sweetheart had been molested. Ma Dazhuang, a soldier who was transferred to Gushan Prison, was ordered to escort Liang Mangui back to the village. As soon as he arrived at the village, he unintentionally deceived the other prisoners' eagerness to escape and hurriedly turned around and escorted Liang Mangui back to the prison. On the way, Ma Dazhuang suddenly found fresh horse dung from the Japanese war horse and exclaimed, "Oh no!" Ma Dazhuang rushed back to the prison, but was hit by a sneak attack by the Japanese advance team and the escape of the prisoners. After a fierce battle, the warden and guards fell down one by one to protect the prisoners, while the prisoners scattered in the chaos. The warden Yang Ming died a heroic death.
