Overview
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, a tragedy caused by family grudges and warlord abuse changed the fate of Liancheng (played by Huang Jue), a servant of the wealthy businessman Lianshi. After his master's family was wiped out, Liancheng became the orphan and took revenge for his master's family. After that, he fled for his life and joined the Kuomintang after many setbacks, and joined the revolution with his benefactor Su Zhidan (played by Sun Hongtao), who planted the seeds of communism in Liancheng's heart. In the bloody years, Liancheng relied on his enthusiasm, perseverance and agility to withstand all kinds of hardships and tests. He held a prominent position in the National Government, but his true identity was an undercover agent arranged by the Communist Party around Chiang Kai-shek. In the process, he also reunited with Han Kui (played by Zu Feng), the son of the enemy who led to the destruction of his family. The hatred between the country and the family gathered into a huge whirlpool... This film is adapted from a true story. The protagonist Han Liancheng (formerly known as Han Guizhang) is the highest-ranked undercover agent lurking within the Kuomintang in history.
