On the eve of the Wuhan Battle, the Eighth Route Army platoon leader Li Zimu was ordered to return to Shanghai to join Shangguan Jingyun to destroy the Japanese army's chemical weapons development plan named "Wind Shadow". The task code was "Operation Chasing the Wind." The military commander dispatched a special operations team led by Ling Shuang and Tang Shunzhi to disrupt the Japanese plan. Due to poor military command, the special operations team suffered heavy losses. Li Zimu was also unable to deal a heavy blow to the enemy due to insufficient troops. In order to successfully complete the mission, Li Zimu persuaded Ling Shuang and Tang Shunzhi to put aside their differences in political opinions and fight together.
