On October 10, 1911, the Wuchang Uprising broke out. The revolutionaries in Shanghai also began to prepare for action. On November 7, Cheng Shigao, a general of the alliance, received news that five warships from the Qing court had arrived at Wusongkou, preparing to transport firearms from the Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau to Hankou to fight the revolutionary army. Cheng Shigao hurried to the manufacturing bureau to stop the conflict. During the conflict, the guards came to report that the members of the Guangfuhui had already taken action in Zhabei. Cheng Shigao escaped from the Manufacturing Bureau with the help of Shao Zhongliang, the foreman of the Manufacturing Bureau, and rushed back to the Jiangzhejiang Guild Hall. The revolutionaries held an emergency meeting. Cheng Shigao asked why they took action in the first place. Others explained that the whereabouts of the uprising were exposed and they had no choice but to do so. All parties agreed to an emergency. The Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, the Tongmenghui and the Guangfuhui led by Lu Lin'an have already done their work separately. The Shanghai business and police circles have turned to the revolution, leaving only the Manufacturing Bureau as a mortal enemy. Cheng Shigao quarreled with others and almost got physical. The people at the meeting were obviously divided into three groups. It all becomes almost a fable: the revolution that began from that day has always revolved around the struggle between factions, power and money. On the one hand, it paints the background of heroes and desires for the rise of this city, and also washes away human nature.
