At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Zhilong, the father of Zheng Chenggong, took Emperor Longwu of the Ming Dynasty hostage, separatized Fujian, and fought against the Qing government. The young Zheng Chenggong studied in the Imperial College and the Qing soldiers moved south. Zheng Chenggong returned to Fujian and urged his father Zheng Zhilong to send the Qing soldiers to the north. Zheng Zhilong led his army to defect to the Qing army despite the dissuasion of Zheng Chenggong, Emperor Longwu and Mrs. Tagawa who returned home. From then on, father and son Zheng Zhilong and Zheng Chenggong turned against each other. Zheng Chenggong led his army to fight against the Qing army and still stood in Fujian, becoming a banner for the anti-Qing and restoration of the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Longwu was killed in a battle. On his deathbed, he issued an edict that Zheng Chenggong must recover Taiwan. Zheng Chenggong's mother, Mrs. Tianchuan, was also surrounded by Qing troops during this battle and committed suicide by caesarean section. Zheng Chenggong retreated to the Kinmen area of Xiamen, determined to regain Taiwan and fulfill Emperor Longwu's last wish. In order to obtain the Dutch's sea records, Zheng Chenggong went deep into the Dutch army in Taiwan to find this mysterious Mr. Shujian. After going through many difficulties and dangers, he found Mr. Shujian and learned about the Dutch military deployment. He conquered Taiwan and regained the treasure island in one fell swoop.
