In 1938, the Anti-Japanese War was in full swing. Fang Haer, commander of the 88th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, led his men out of Sichuan and rushed to the front line in Zhejiang. The 88th Army was an empty-shell force, but Fang Haer put national justice first, provided his own food and wages, and fought bloody battles with the Japanese army with tenacious fighting spirit. Under the leadership of the New Fourth Army Commander Dai Zongnan, Harbin first smashed the Japanese poison gas plan, and then achieved a series of victories such as blowing up the Japanese arsenal and killing the Japanese Lieutenant General brigade commander. In his contact with Dai Zongnan, Fang Haer was gradually infected by the Communist Party's people-oriented belief. However, due to Haer's heroic military exploits and his close relationship with the New Fourth Army, the top leaders of the Kuomintang continued to set up resistance for Fang Haer. While Harbin was dealing with the Kuomintang, he had to deal with the Japanese attack. Finally, with the help of Dai Zongnan, Fang Haer finally annihilated the 16th Division of the Japanese Army and made a significant contribution to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
