Overview
In 1976, ten years of turmoil that wreaked havoc on the country and the people finally came to an end, but the fate of millions of people had been changed in this catastrophe, and they could never return to their original place. They agree with the arrangement of fate and go with the flow, but they also struggle hard to pursue their own small and precious happiness. Fast forward to 1979, when the intellectual youths who responded to the great leader’s call to go to the mountains and countryside returned to the city one after another. Lin Chaoran, the commander of the Independent Battalion of Educated Youth, his wife He Ningzhi, and their comrades finally returned to their hometown in Harbin after many hardships. Some of them inherited their father's legacy, some encountered obstacles everywhere, and some atone for Meng Lang's absurd sins during the Cultural Revolution. The young people who were full of glory back then were haggard under the crushing social reality. Lin was looking for a job everywhere, and had to face the separation of life and death from his wife. Under great pressure in life, he and his comrades gritted their teeth and moved forward, heading towards the happiness at the end...
