The TV series "Shun" is based on the legendary and tortuous life of the ancient emperor Shun. It tells the story of Yao, Shun and Yu who went through hardships, controlled floods, benefited the people and achieved great achievements. Shun was an ancient hero more than 4,600 years ago. Because of his reputation as "utmost filial piety", his outstanding talents in farming, fishing, hunting, and pottery, as well as his unique charm of character and personality, he was favored by the Chinese leader Tang Yao and married his two daughters, Ehuang and Nvying, to Shun. Shun lived up to Yao's sacred mandate and showed his talents by governing the Guirui land which Huaxia and Dongyi were fighting for. Shun made it a gathering in one year, a town in two years, and a capital in three years, turning it into a trade center for both sides. At that time, the world was flooded and the four evil spirits were in chaos. As the regent, Shun killed Gun, who had failed to control the floods and took the lead in rebellion. Then he asked Gun's son Yu to continue to control the floods. Finally, the floods were conquered and the economy developed. Shun governed the country politically by virtue, revised legislation, and established five punishments, so as to harmonize the nationalities and make the world harmonious. In the end, Shun, who unified the world, abdicated the throne to Yu instead of his son Shangjun, becoming a great emperor and a model of primitive democracy in history.
