In 1941, our army intercepted information that the Japanese army was preparing to attack Qinglong Village, a bandit village in the Taihang Mountains, and assigned Zhao Gang, the director of the arsenal, to find out the situation. Zhao Gang followed the Japanese spy to Qinglong Village, but was arrested as a spy. Zhao Honghua, the daughter of the village owner, was unwilling to marry Jiang Dalong, the successor of the village, and cooperated with Zhao Gang to escape. The Japanese took the opportunity to occupy Qinglong Village. Honghua placed her hope of saving the village on the national army battalion commander Tang Huaichuan, but she was unable to wait for support and had to lead her troops to attack the mountain to save her father. Zhao Kongwu died to protect his daughter Honghua. Zhao Gang rescued Honghua, who joined the Eighth Route Army. The Independent Group was established, Zhao Gang was appointed political commissar and brought his fiancée Yang Liuqing, and Honghua was forced to put away her good impression of Zhao Gang. During a battle, Yang Liuqing made a mistake in deciphering a Japanese military message, causing the independent regiment to suffer heavy losses and Yang Liuqing disappeared. Honghua helped the grieving Zhao Gang get out of the trough, and when the relationship between the two warmed up, Yang Liuqing returned to the independent group. The Japanese army took advantage of Yang Liuqing's eagerness to win and framed him. Zhao Gang rescued Yang Liuqing and was in danger. Yang Liuqing sacrificed his life to protect Zhao Gang and sincerely blessed Honghua and Zhao Gang before his death. Honghua and Zhao Gang led the independent regiment to finally defeat the Japanese army and recapture Qinglong Village.
