Overview
This film uses vivid events and characters in the emergency department of a hospital to show people's living conditions and judgments about life and death in modern life from multiple aspects. The mother of emergency doctor Du Xiaoqing committed suicide during the Cultural Revolution, and his father also died a year ago. His eldest brother Du Lusheng died on the Sino-Vietnamese front 20 years ago, leaving behind his young wife Zhou Yingxue and son Du Tiantian. Li Daming, director of the emergency department, and Mei Yun, director of the surgery department of the same hospital, were a like-minded couple. However, Du Xiaoqing and Li Daming, who had returned from a divorce abroad, worked well together and their relationship aroused discussion in the hospital. Hospital director Bai Mingming was good friends with the deceased Du Lusheng. He has been silently in love with Zhou Yingxue for many years, but this relationship has never been accepted... The story revolves around the intricate emotional relationship between these emergency room medical staff.
