
Jessica Novak is a hard-working, conscientious, talented field reporter who has a knack for turning human interest stories into news. Her boss, news director Max Kenyon, is a tough critic and skilled teacher. Jessica is aided by her sympathetic field crew consisting of cameraman Phil Bonelli and sound engineer Ricky Duran. In addition to her full-time job as a reporter, Jessica tries to lead a normal life as an intelligent, attractive modern liberated woman.
Ernie Doyle, a man estranged from his wife, kidnaps his children and then threatens to kill them and himself. Jessica Novak is a local TV spot news reporter who drives her boss bananas by going beyond the stories she is sent to cover, taking her camera crew along.
