At the end of 1944, the Japanese and puppet autumn raids and the betrayal of traitors put Baicheng into difficulty. Jiang Mangen and underground party member Peng Xiunv were ordered to enter Baicheng in the face of danger. Mangen had no experience in underground struggle, was reckless and impulsive, and his actions constantly deviated from the organization's plan, which aroused the suspicion of the Japanese and the pseudo-police chief Chu Qiang, and killed Xiu Nu. In order to complete the task, he had to turn to his enemy and his father's good friend - the pseudo county magistrate Liao Yiqing. With Liao's help, Mangen established contact with various local forces, used bandits and other forces to find new ways to complete various tasks, and established the Baicheng Transportation Station. After the Japanese surrender, Mangen began to instigate rebellion against Liao Yiqing, and the identity of Chu Qiang and Liao's daughter Chunxiao also emerged. Liao Yiqing wanted to liberate Baicheng peacefully, but Chu Qiang forced him to fight with force. Man Gen and Chun Xiao came to the rescue. Chu Qiang blocked the bullet for Man Gen, but Chu Qiang was eventually killed by Man Gen. Mangen returned to the army and embarked on the journey to liberate the country.
