The story takes place in 1919. Luan Xuetang (played by Gu Zhixin) was originally a little beggar with a miserable life. After living in Beijing, he entered Jifeng Tower by chance and became a waiter. Later, he was expelled because he accidentally learned the ulterior secret of the shopkeeper. Luan Xuetang's fate should not be cut off. When he was desperate, he met the noble person in his life, so he founded Fengze Garden and opened a new era in which he can control his own destiny. Fengzeyuan has accepted many backbones and clerks from Jifeng Tower, which has aroused the resentment of Wang Defu (played by Wang Gang) and Li Qiuchen (played by He Bing), the shopkeepers of Jifeng Tower, with the intention of obstructing it. Later, Luan Xuetang married a woman named Guan Yali (played by Yuan Yu), and Guan Yali was Li Qiuchen's sweetheart. Yao Zhenzhen (played by Huang Wei) has always liked her childhood sweetheart Luan Xuetang. After learning that he had married, the heartbroken Yao Zhenzhen devoted herself to the vigorous anti-Japanese cause.
