The main theme of the story of "Golden Rice Wave" is the Jiang family. The head of the Jiang family, Jiang Taiyuan (played by Tang Zhihong), took his wife (played by Chen Qiongmei), family and a group of tenant farmers from the west to Guanshan, Taitung, where they took root and began to plant rice. Jiang Taiyuan is a dedicated and persistent person. Starting from breeding, he understands every step of rice growth. He described: Going to the fields every day to step on the water is the foundation of a farmer. Treading on the field water can prevent the field water from being too clear, and the temperature of the rice roots will not be too high when exposed to direct sunlight. Treading on the field water can directly contact the rice and understand the growth conditions and diseases and insect pests. Treading on the field water is the way for farmers to survive. The story begins at the end of the Pacific War. That year, Japan mobilized all Taiwan's resources, including food and personnel, to the front line to supply war needs. He tried every means to increase production and improve quality. He also went to the mountains to communicate with the aborigines in person about water sources, and stabilized various farming needs. However, the times have changed beyond his imagination. After Japan's defeat and the national army took over, Jiang Taiyuan fully expected to have a stable environment so that he could focus on farming. However, in fact, due to various differences in language, provincial origin, and various policies, Jiang Taiyuan was exhausted and his small dream of focusing solely on farming could not be realized. The only son of the Jiang family, Jiang Wende (played by Gu Bin), rejected farming and went north to work when he was young, but achieved nothing; the eldest daughter Jiang Wenzhu (played by Chen Baizhen) recruited her husband Wu Yongtai (played by Wen Jixing) to increase the labor force of the Jiang family and follow Jiang's father in farming; the second daughter Jiang Wenhua (played by Xu Liwen) ), is Jiang Taiyuan's most capable assistant and best successor. Jiang Taiyuan always sighs in his heart, it would be better if Wenhua was a boy. Different eras have different restrictions and different beauties. Wenhua's childhood sweetheart Lan Changqing (played by Wang Shaowei), in order to make life easier for his family, volunteered to be a Taiwanese soldier, and was immediately sent to the battlefield in the Philippines. With the memories and promises of Wenhua, he gritted his teeth and desperately tried to survive and returned to his hometown even though he was lame on one leg. However, after several years of no news, the scenery remained the same and the personnel changed completely. The love between Evergreen and Wenhua sways in the turbulent times, like flying catkins, with no way to land.
