"From Genesis to Revelation" is the debut album by the English progressive rock band Genesis, released in March 1969 by Decca Records in England (London Records in North America). It was produced by Jonathan King, who was a school friend of the original members of Genesis when they attended Charterhouse School. Genesis, beginning in 1967, was formed by Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. They were missing a drummer and King, noticing one of their demos, added a school friend, Chris Stewart, on drums. Their first single will be The Silent Sun. Upon its release, despite its undeniable “pop” qualities, the album was a monumental flop. Some critics even go so far as to classify the group as "religious songs", because of the group's name and the biblical passages contained in certain songs.
