During the Anti-Japanese War, Tanaka Qinghui (Takarada Akira) was a reporter accompanying the Japanese army. After being injured, he was separated from the army and lived in the wilderness. Father Zhao (Wu Jiaxiang), because his only son joined the army for a long time and heard nothing from him, went crazy remembering his son. He mistakenly took Tanaka Qinghui as his son and took him home by force. Aunt Zhao (Wang Lai) is blind. She is sad and happy when she hears that her beloved son has returned injured. She urgently orders her daughter-in-law Atui (Lotte) to wash and bandage Tanaka Qinghui's wounds. Tanaka Qinghui deeply felt the grace of Mr. Zhao to survive. He was overjoyed to see the two elders and couldn't bear to reveal the truth. Although Tanaka Qinghui looks exactly like Zhao's son, Cui realizes at first glance that he is not her husband, and is sad and disappointed. Later, she learns that Tanaka Qinghui is Japanese, and she becomes even more wary. After dinner, A Cui was forced to be in the same room with Tanaka Qinghui. Tanaka Qinghui was fast asleep, and A Cui held a knife and wanted to stab him to death. After hesitating, A Cui saw that Tanaka Qing Hui had changed into her husband's clothes. She recalled the tender and affectionate love and infinite tenderness between her and her husband that day. Her heart was in turmoil, and the sharp knife in her hand fell to the ground. Tanaka Qinghui woke up and saw this, and knew that A Cui had murderous intentions. He explained that he was an anti-war student and was forced to accompany the army for interviews. He did not participate in the invasion and did not kill anyone. A Cui felt a little more relaxed, and gradually changed her view of Tanaka Qinghui. While they were talking in detail, they suddenly heard that Mr. Zhao had a heart attack and that there was no cure in the countryside. Tanaka Qinghui volunteered and returned to the camp to steal the medicine. After several hardships, Tanaka Qinghui finally obtained the medicine, and Mr. Zhao turned the corner. A few days later, Tanaka Qinghui finally said goodbye to the Zhao family and embarked on his way home.
