Colonel Amaro Silva, a cattle breeder, owns a vast farm in the interior of the city of Dom Pedrito in Rio Grande do Sul. His son Aparício is the farm foreman, with the black boy Tonico, the colonel's godson, as his assistant. One day, a new neighbor appears there: Dr. Azevedo, who has just bought vast lands. With him comes his daughter Aurora. One day, she and Aparício meet on his land and begin a romance. But when the cattle on Dr. Azevedo's farm are stolen, Aparício is accused of the crime due to false clues left by the thieves, and will need to prove his innocence.
