Luo Dayou, a once-in-a-century talent in the Chinese music scene. He can be called the Huang Renyu of the pop music world. The far-sighted sentiments of family and country in his works are of great benefit to every Chinese son and daughter. Dayou is not prolific. He has produced about 170 tracks in his nearly thirty-year creative career, and the average annual score is only six or seven. However, this batch of important pop songs has witnessed one period of precarious history, and has accompanied you and me through the wasted years of hesitation and alienation. Since September 8 of the new millennium, Luo Dayou has started a new long march on the music road from Shanghai with a concert, traveling all over China, which took four years. This disc contains the entirety of Dayou's solo performance in Hong Kong in the spring of 2004. The content can be said to have provided help in times of crisis to the Hong Kong compatriots who were once in dire straits. The singer used inspiring notes to sing his sincere blessings for the "Pearl of the Orient"... Brief comment: In this concert called "Getting Real", Luo Dayou not only played and sang by himself, but also used Mandarin/Cantonese to express his true feelings about the historical changes in Hong Kong to the audience. The song "Partner" is a new song written by Dayou after experiencing the catastrophe of SARS in 2003. It eulogizes the help of ordinary people in fighting against fate. Luo Dayou landed in Hong Kong on April 1, 1987. At that time, he made the most important decision in his life - to give up his lucrative career as a doctor and devote himself to music creation wholeheartedly. At the end of the same year, Dayou established the "Music Factory" and used the musical language of laughter and curses to witness the various scenes of the Hong Kong market in the post-transition period. During the concert, Dayou continued to awaken the audience to regain the hard-working and brave spirit of Hong Kong with classic repertoire that was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. With his sincere encouragement, the public also sang "Pearl of the Orient" and "Voice of the Prodigal Son" in unison. Dayou's musical colleagues, such as Huang Yaoming, Lin Xi, Wu Bai, Jiang Zhiguang and Yuan Fengying, also came to the scene. They expressed their unchanging feelings for a better tomorrow in Hong Kong through their songs.
