Overview
Dashing Shogo Shimada makes his first appearance while being splashed by Kiso! Shinzo (Shimada), a raft operator who builds a raft from the mountains of Kiso and goes down the Kiso River, is a good-natured man who is loved by Kahei (Araki), the leader of the group, and his relationship with his only daughter, Omiyo (Yamada), is officially approved. Shinzo's older brother, Bunkumagoro (Ishiyama), was not happy about this and used his friends to pick a fight with Shinzo and slandered him, saying that he owed 20 ryo from gambling, so Shinzo received a reprimand from Kahei. Eventually, a vine broke midway through the raft Kahei and Shinzo were riding on, and Kahei fell into the river and died. Because of this, Shinzo was accused of killing Kahei and flew to Edo at Kumagoro's recommendation.
