A portrait of the Neapolitan Raffaele Viviani, one of the greatest Italian playwrights of the 20th century: an artist who "learned his art from the people and gave his art to the people". The documentary reconstructs the artistic and human universe of Raffaele Viviani, whose theater - set in the alleys of Naples - feeds on the characters of the street to make them a universal metaphor. The recomposition of the great author's universe develops starting from his work, which marks a clear discontinuity with the previous theatre, introducing deeply innovative characters and elements. Following an ideal thread between past and present, the portrait of a multifaceted and original artist and of a contradictory city, scene of the world, emerges. A journey enriched by the precious archives of the Cineteca di Bologna, the RAI and the Eye Museum, and by the testimonies of important exponents of the world of national and international culture linked to Viviani's work.
